வாக்கு உண்டாம் நல்ல மனம் உண்டாம் மாமலராள்
நோக்கு உண்டாம் மேனிநுடங்காது - பூக்கொண்டு
துப்பார் திருமேனித் தும்பிக்கை யான் பாதம்
தப்பாமல் சார்வார் தமக்கு
பொருள்: பூக்களைக் கொண்டு சிவந்த மேனியுடைய விநாயகரது பாதங்களைத் துதிப்பவர்க்கு
...For those who worship with flowers, the rosy coloured Lord Vinayagar, the following good things they will get in their life
வாக்குத் திறமையும், நல்ல மனமும், பெருமலரை உடைய லக்ஷ்மியின் கடாக்ஷமும், நோயற்ற வாழ்வும் கிடைக்கும்.

Song 1.
நன்றி ஒருவர்க்குச் செய்தக்கால் அந்நன்றி
'என்று தருங்கொல்?' எனவேண்டா- நின்று
தளரா வளர்தெங்கு தாணுண்ட நீரைத்
தலையாலே தான்தருத லால்.
பொருள்:
ஒருவர்க்கு உதவி செய்யும்போது, அதற்கு ப்ரதியுபகாரமும், நன்றியும் எப்போது கிடைக்கும் என்று கருதி செய்யக்கூடாது.
... When we are helping others, we should not think of when that person will reciprocate it or do it back to us.
எப்படிப்பட்ட நீரை வேர் மூலம் உண்டாலும், நன்கு தளராது வளர்ந்துள்ள தென்னை மரம் அந்நீரை சுவையான இளநீராக தந்து விடும்.
...Whatever may be the quality of the water that a palm tree may imbibe with its root, it will always give back only sweet juice.
அதுபோல ஒருவர்க்கு செய்த சிறு உதவியும் பெரிய விதத்தில் நமக்கு ஒரு காலம் நிச்சயம் நன்மை பயக்கும்.

நல்லார் ஒருவர்க்குச் செய்த உபகாரம்
கல்மேல் எழுத்துப் போல் காணுமே - அல்லாத
ஈரமிலா நெஞ்சத்தார்க்கு ஈந்த உபகாரம்
நீர்மேல் எழுத்துக்கு நேர்
பொருள்: நல்லவர்களுக்கு செய்யும் உதவி, கல்லின் மேல் எழுத்தைச் செதுக்குவது போன்றது. அது எவரும் அறியும் வண்ணம் என்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும்.
...The help that you do to good people is like the inscriptions engraved on a stone. It will always be permanent and others will come to know about it even years after.
அப்படியல்லாது இரக்கமற்றவர்களுக்கு செய்யும் உதவி எவர்க்கும் பயன்தராது. அது நீரின் மேல் எழுதும் எழுத்துக்களைப் போன்று பயனின்றி நிலைக்காது போகும்.

இன்னா இளமை வறுமை வந்து எய்தியக் கால்
இன்னா அளவில் இனியவும் - இன்னாத
நாளல்லா நாள் பூத்தநன் மலரும் போலுமே
ஆளில்லா மங்கையர்க்கு அழகு
பொருள்:
இளமையில் வறுமையும், இயலாத முதுமையில் செல்வமும் பெற்றால் அதனால் துன்பமே. அனுபவிக்க முடியாது.
...Having no money when a person is young or getting excess money when a person is aged ... both are bad. It can't be enjoyed and creates more problems and unhappiness.
அது பருவமில்லாத காலங்களில் பூக்கும் பூக்களைப் போன்றது. அதைப் போல் துணைவனில்லாத பெண்களின் அழகும் வீணே.
...It is like a flower that blossoms at the wrong season. The youth and beauty of a woman goes waste, if she does not have an appropriate man for her.

அட்டாலும் பால் சுவையில் குன்றாது அளவளாய்
நட்டாலும் நண்பு அல்லார் நண்பு அல்லர்
கெட்டாலும் மேன் மக்கள் மேன் மக்களே சங்கு
சுட்டாலும் வெண்மை தரும்
பொருள்:நற்பண்பு இல்லாதோரிடம் நன்கு பழகினாலும் அவர்கள் நண்பர்களாக மாட்டார்கள்.
...Mean people will never become a friend to you even if you mingle with them freely.
தம் நிலை தாழ்ந்தாலும் நற்பண்புள்ளோர் சிறந்தவர்களாகவே பழகுவர்.
...On the contrary, wise men will always maintain their dignity, even when they are facing big problems.
அவர்கள் நட்பு எவ்வளவு காய்ச்சினாலும் சுவை குன்றாத பாலைப் போன்றது. தீயிலிட்டு சுட்டாலும் மேலும் மேலும் வெளுக்கும் சங்கினைப் போன்றது அவர் நட்பு.

பொருள்: கிளைகளோடு கூடிய நீண்ட மரங்களும் பருவத்தில் மட்டும் பழங்களைத் தரும்.

அது போல மேன்மேலும் முயன்றாலும் நாம் செய்யும் கார்யங்கள் தகுந்த காலம் கூடினால் மட்டுமே பயன் தரும்.

உற்ற இடத்தில் உயிர் வழங்கும் தன்மையோர்
பற்றலரைக் கண்டால் பணிவரோ? கல் தூண்
பிளந்து இறுவது அல்லால் பெரும்பாரம் தாங்கின்
தளர்ந்து வளையுமோ தான்
பொருள்: கல் தூண் ஓரளவுக்கு மேல் பாரத்தை ஏற்றினால் உடைந்து விழுந்து விடுமேயல்லாது, வளைந்து போகாது.
...A stone pillar will not bend but break if you put on it excess load.
அது போலவே மானக்குறைவு ஏற்பட்டால் உயிரை விட்டு விடும்
தன்மையுள்ளவர்கள் எதிரிகளைக் கண்டால் பணிவதில்லை.
...Similarly, wise men will not be afraid of enemies, but will give away their life if they face mental agony.

நீர் அளவே ஆகுமாம் நீர் ஆம்பல்; தான் கற்ற
நூல் அளவே ஆகுமாம் நுண் அறிவு - மேலைத்
தவத்து அளவே ஆகுமாம் தான் பெற்ற செல்வம்
குலத்து அளவே ஆகும் குணம்
பொருள்:அல்லிப்பூ நீரின் அளவு எவ்வளவு இருக்கிறதோ அவ்வளவே வளரும்.
...The root of the lotus flower will be equal to the depth of the water on which it grows
நாம் கற்ற நூல்களின் அளவே நம் அறிவு. Similarly, our intelligence is equal to the number of books that we have read.
முற்பிறப்பில் செய்த புண்ய கார்யங்களின் அளவே நாம் இப்போது அனுபவிக்கும் செல்வம்.
.. The wealth and happiness that we enjoy in this life is equal to the virtue that we had amassed in our previous lives.
குணம் நாம் தோன்றிய குலத்தின் அளவே.

நல்லாரைக் காண்பதுவும் நன்றே; நலம் மிக்க
நல்லார் சொல் கேட்பதுவும் நன்றே - நல்லார்
குணங்கள் உரைப்பதுவும் நன்றே அவரோடு
இணங்கி இருப்பதுவும் நன்று.
பொருள்: நல்லவர்களைக் காண்பதும், நமக்கு நன்மை பயக்கும் அவர் சொல்லைக் கேட்பதுவும்,
... It is good to visit wise men and listen to their words.
அவர்கள் குணங்களை மற்றவரிடத்தில் சொல்வதுவும், அவர்களோடு சேர்ந்து இருப்பதுவும் நல்லது.
... It is also good to tell about their goodness to others and to be in their midst.

தீயாரைக் காண்பதுவும் தீதே; திரு அற்ற
தீயார் சொல் கேட்பதுவும் தீதே - தீயார்
குணங்கள் உரைப்பதுவும் தீதே; அவரோடு
இணங்கி இருப்பதுவும் தீது
பொருள்:தீயவர்களைப் பார்ப்பதும், பயனற்ற அவர் சொல்லைக் கேட்பதுவும்,
... It is bad to visit mean men and listen to their words.
அவர்களைப் பற்றி அடுத்தவர்களிடத்தில் சொல்வதுவும், அவர்களோடு சேர்ந்து இருப்பதுவும் நமக்குக் கெடுதியே.
... It is also bad to talk about them to others and to be in their midst.
Song 10.
நெல்லுக்கு இறைத்த நீர் வாய்க்கால் வழி ஓடிப்
புல்லுக்கும் ஆங்கே பொசியுமாம் - தொல் உலகில்
நல்லார் ஒருவர் உளரேல் அவர் பொருட்டு
எல்லார்க்கும் பெய்யும் மழை
பொருள்: உழவன் நெல்லுக்குப் பாய்ச்சும் நீர் அங்கிருக்கும் புல்லுக்கும் பயனைத் தரும்.
... The farmer irrigates only his crops, but the grass that is nearby is also benefited.
அது போலவே இந்தப் பழமையான உலகில் நல்லவர் ஒருவர்க்காகப் பெய்யும் மழை (பலன்கள்) எல்லாருக்குமே பயனைத் தரும்.
... Similarly, the rain pours down only on account of good men. However all are benefitted by it.
