Translation Sculptor and EXCELLENCE 

A German once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God.

ஒரு ஜெர்மானியர்  ஒருமுறை கட்டுமானத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு கோவிலுக்குச் சென்றார், அங்கு ஒரு சிற்பி கடவுளின் சிலை செய்வதைக் கண்டார். 

Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. /திடீரென்று அருகில் இதே போன்ற ஒரு சிலை கிடப்பதைக் கவனித்தார்.

Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?"  / ஆச்சரியப்பட்ட அவர், சிற்பியிடம், "ஒரே மாதிரி  இரண்டு சிலைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தேவையா?"

"No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage". / "இல்லை,எங்களுக்கு ஒன்று மட்டுமே தேவை, ஆனால் முதல் சிலை  கடைசி கட்டத்தில் சேதமடைந்தது" என்றார் சிற்பி நிமிர்ந்து பார்க்காமல்.

The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. / அந்த மனிதர் சிலையை பரிசோதித்தபோது வெளிப்படையான சேதம் எதுவும் காணப்படவில்லை.

"Where is the damage?" he asked./ "சேதம் எங்கே?"  என்று அவர் கேட்டார்.

"There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. / "சிலையின் மூக்கில் ஒரு கீறல் உள்ளது."  என்று கூறி விட்டு சிற்பி, தனது வேலையில்   கவனமாகவே  இருந்தார்.

"Where are you going to install the idol?" / "சிலையை எங்கே நிறுவப் போகிறீர்கள்?"

The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high./ சிற்பி, "இருபது அடி உயர தூணில் நிறுவப்படும்" என்று பதிலளித்தார்.

"If the idol is that far who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked./ "சிலை அவ்வளவு உயரத்தில் இருந்தால் மூக்கில் ஒரு கீறல் இருப்பதை யார் தெரிந்து கொள்ளப் போகிறார்கள்?" என்று கேட்டார்.

The sculptor stopped work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I know it..." / சிற்பி தன் வேலையை நிறுத்தி விட்டு, அந்த மனிதனைப் பார்த்து, புன்னகைத்து, "எனக்கு அது தெரியுமே ..." என்றார்.

The desire to excel is exclusive of the fact whether someone else appreciates it or not. / சிறந்து விளங்குவதற்கான விருப்பம் என்பது, வேறு யாராவது அதைப் பாராட்டுகிறார்களா இல்லையா என்பதை பொருத்து இல்லை.

   

"Excellence" is a drive from inside, not outside. / "உன்னதம்"  என்பது வெளியில் இல்லை, அது நமக்கு உள்ளே தான்  இருக்கிறது.

Excellence is not for someone else to notice, but for your own satisfaction and efficiency.

உன்னதம் என்பது வேறு யாராவது கவனிக்க வேண்டிய ஒன்றாக இருகக் கூடாது. அது உங்களுடைய  சொந்த திருப்திக்காக இருக்க வேண்டும். / Don't Climb a Mountain with an Intention that the World Should See You.

உலகம் உன்னைப் பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்ற நோக்கத்துடன் ஒரு மலையை ஏற வேண்டாம்.

Climb the Mountain with the Intention to See the World. / நீ உலகைப் பார்க்கும் நோக்கத்துடன் மலையை ஏறு.
